Girl Power is not feminism

Not to provide a forum here for the voices I highly disagree with, but I couldn't help but be annoyed by the following comment on an article about women now "out-earning" men:

It's high time! After two centuries of refusal to face the truth, even Anthropo-archaeology is beggining to admit that the world was originally a group of matriarchies, which functioned on the highest level, free of war, based on creativity, conciliatiion and tolerance of others. It was women who created agriculture, art, music, painting and were responsible for the education of their children, all the civiliizing forces that morphed humankind from cave dwelling semi beasts into human beings. For a ong time, men were not even aware that the children were theirs. Women preferred it that way. Men were the hunter/fishermen and keepers of the hearth. When, after many millennia, men rebelled against this structure, testosteone took over along with war, enslavement, and the legislated and actual still current universal abuse of women on all levels. Like it or not, the female sex IS the superior sex, but men, although I dearly love the good ones, have spent a huge amount of time, proclaiming the opposite and enforcing that fraudulent claim, by force. Women don't make war, nor ever escalating deadly weapons to kill others. Men do. The Amazons, and bellicose women of history were aping men to survive and rule. They were not THE Rule.

It's high time women took their rightul place as the movers and shakers of society. With civilization, with humor, with love. There are men who also use those positive, vital tools, but they are in the minority. Look at the world they've created! War, death, destruction, rapine and mpoverishment of all except the powerful male plutocrats everywhere on the planet. In all honesty, don' t you think it's time for change? Time to return to the matriarchies with the cooperation of those men who truly want a world that is healhy, productive and joyous to live in. A world based on fulfillment for all, not solely for the privileged male few and their pampered, scorned baby dolls, who are given lots of toys but no power, and discared when a wrinkle is noticed. Hurray and ole for women power!, a situation in which ALLl humans will win!

My "favorite" line is that "Women ARE the superior sex." I'm pretty sure none of these claims are even historically accurate. I have a feeling that both in the olden days and today, there was a huge diversity of personalities, occupations, tasks, and marital dynamics, and just because there might have been a few instances of women involved in art or whatever other flimsy example this person provided did not necessarily mean they "dominated" their society. Any domination, no matter how benevolent, is still domination, and I cannot see any sane feminist ever advocating this model.

This new focus on the "alpha wife" is also rather misguided. Wives outearning husbands have been around for a while and have not bothered many men. Men's egos are bruised not necessarily on their own accord, but rather by society having very limited ideas of what they find acceptable, and it is this derision, even if it's silent and below the surface, that many men (and women) find stressful and distasteful.

Also, no one has bothered to note that only 22% of wives outearn their husbands. In a society with true equality, we should expect to see roughly 50% of breadwinners being male and 50% of breadwinners being female (homosexual marriages unions included assuming equal numbers of gay men and women marry / are one day allowed to marry). In any case, the trend is at least on the right track, and I hope it helps break down some old restrictive gender roles and stereotypes as such studies and conversations permeate the American psyche.
