Finally, an article that proposes a sensible solution that many of us have already been talking about: random checkpoints. This is akin to airport security - no one feels singled out, no one feels they are suspected of anything, no one is targeted for racial, socioeconomic, and other frivolous reasons.

Indeed, they point out a very key thing: everyone wants to be treated fairly and no one wants to be approached thinking the police is already suspecting them of something. That just puts people on edge and make them appear even more suspicious.

Excellent idea that I think should be used instead of SB 1070's ill-conceived idea. The costs would also not be any greater.

I thought there was a supreme court case that ruled that police cannot stop people without due cause like a mass checkpoint? or was it OK?
